ZELLA MAE STEVENSON 
 
 

 

Suffolk - Zella Mae Stevenson, 86 of 111 South Lloyd Street, Suffolk died Saturday, September 5, 2009 at Autumn Care of Suffolk. She was a native of Holland and the daughter of the late Zachary Taylor Copeland and Maggie Rawls Copeland. She was also predeceased by her husband, Mr. Pretlow Lee Stevenson, Sr.; daughter, Patricia Ann Stevenson; brothers and sisters, Margie Copeland, Edna (Sis) Hicks, Willie Essie Eley, Bryant Copeland, Andrew Lee Copeland, Zachary (Buddy) Copeland, Jr., Raymond Copeland and Harvey Lee Copeland.

She was a self-employed seamstress. Mrs. Stevenson was a member of Metropolitan Baptist Church.

She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Barbara S. Green (Robert) of Suffolk, Betty S. Mixon (Dr. James Mixon) of Hampton, VA and Carolyn Stevenson; two sons, Dr. Pretlow L. Stevenson, Jr. (Dorothy) and Andre C. Stevenson (Sonja) both of Suffolk; ten grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; brothers and sisters, Rosetta Cotton of Portsmouth, VA, Floyd (Honey) Copeland (Mary), Dorpha Lee Copeland (Sadie) and Theissical Mae Liggins (Joseph) all of Windsor; aunt, Lucille Lawrence; other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 10, 2009 at Metropolitan Baptist Church officiated by Dr. Robert L. Hobbs. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. A wake will be held Wednesday, September 9, 2009 from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Crocker Funeral Home.. The family will be at the home of Barbara Green, 6818 Old Myrtle Road, Suffolk.
