James R. Townsell, Jr.

April 24, 1961 - January 30, 2023

Roosevelt Townsell, Jr. “Bright Eyes”, “JT”, “JuJu”, was born on April 24, 1961 in New York, NY to the parents of Rita and James Townsell, Sr. He departed this life unexpectedly on James January 30, 2023.

James attended PS 198 in Manhattan, NY. He graduated from Teaneck, NJ in 1979. James was a proud Army Veteran. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1980 and served for 4 years followed by 12 years in the Army National Guard Reserves.

He was preceded in death by his older sister Judith Victoria Townsell. He leaves to mourn his Parents, Rita and James Townsell, Sr. of Suffolk, VA; Niece, Victoria Corprew (Hinson) of Chesterfield, VA; Great-Niece, Chelsea V Corprew; Great-Nephew, Hinson T Corprew Jr (CJ); and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A public viewing will be held 5-7pm, Tuesday, February 14, 2023 in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel of Crocker Funeral Home, Inc. A celebration of life will be held 11am, Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at Macedonia Baptist Church, 8300 Crittenden Road, Suffolk, VA 23436. Mr. Townsell will be laid to rest at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, 5310 Milners Road, Suffolk, VA 23434. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
